In recognition of Black History Month, there is a growing movement to acknowledge and address the historical underrepresentation and stigmatization of Black women in sexual wellness and education. Shifting the narrative towards celebration and empowerment, nine Black women from the Pure Romance community have come forward to share their definitions of sex-positivity and their empowering advice for other Black women on owning their bodies and embracing their sexual wellness.

Phaedra Marshall, an accounting lead, articulates sex-positivity as a liberating journey to explore one's sexuality and engage in open and fearless conversations about sex. Liv Wilson from the social media team urges Black women to cultivate sexual confidence, prioritize self-education, and support advocacy organizations. Angelia Robinson, a senior executive director, highlights the importance of breaking cycles of ignorance by educating oneself and mentoring others.

Victoria Taylor, a partner, defines sex-positivity as having a respectful attitude towards sex and creating safe spaces for discussion. Nakia Hazel, a senior national director, emphasizes the historical devaluation of Black women's bodies and advocates for self-knowledge and pleasure as essential components of health. Myoshi Smith, also a partner, encourages Black women to overcome historical exploitation by fostering deep self-love and recognizing their inherent beauty.

Taya Baker, a director, sees sex-positivity as self-affirmation and maintaining a healthy mindset. Cynthia Crosby, an advanced director, advises women of color to engage in self-exploration and listen to their bodies for a greater understanding of sexual wellness. These empowering voices collectively support the mission to amplify Black women's experiences and provide resources that honor their sexual health, love, and pleasure, free from shame or stigma.

The shared stories and advice underscore the importance of embracing sexual confidence, self-education, and open dialogue for Black women to achieve a liberated and fulfilling sexual wellness journey.
